* The Libyan Prime Minister has been freed.
* A car bomber attacked the empty Swiss consulate building in Benghazi.
* They are giving the 311 dead African Refugees a state funeral in Italy.
* Michelle Bachmann was out claiming that somehow, letting people buy insurance with their own money will literally kill them, unlike not letting them have any health care at all, the system Republicans insist on for the working poor. If insurance kills people so much faster than having no health care, why doesn't Michelle Bachmann turn down her government health care? Why do so many rich Republicans buy insurance if it is literally killing them? That's Bachmann's argument.
Is insurance a bad option compared to single payer? Yes, but it's better than no health care at all. The difference in health outcome is measurable, not a matter of opinion, so why wasn't she laughed off the podium?
* Republicans, no, letting people but insurance is not as bad as slavery. Please stop saying it is as bad or worse, when you know damned well it's not.
* The local elections here in Whatcom County just officially got ugly. I just saw an attack add accusing someone of being with the tea party and voting against domestic violence prevention and the Food Bank. Ouch!

Basically, the person who is supposed to give finally government approval is "non-essential," so we aren't allowed to move.
The Republicans are wasting my ordinary citizen type person money by not letting me move. After all, them having a tantrum is way more important than me having a safe place to live. They are rich; I'm not.
* Glee, 4.13- 16:
I Do: Emma's flight: Saw that coming. The Klaine duet was the first time all season that Blaine's dance body language was consonant instead of dissonant. I'm uncomfortable with the cheating, but I always am. Santana/Quinn made me surprisingly happy, even though it never occurred to be until this episode. When I saw the shot of Brody in the hotel with money, I assumed sex worker, which makes perfect sense.
Girls (and Boys) on Film: Santana's methods are far from ideal, but I do love that as with Marley vs. Kitty, it's for the right reasons. It's a little closer to using her powers for good, though I repeat, methods are still unsound. I don't get why they are guessing drug dealer instead of Stripper, Rent Boy, or Gigalo? He shows no signs of drug use and Santana found no drugs in a snoop that turned up a pager and a used (eeeew) pregnancy test. On the side of sex work is his extreme good looks and serious attention to personal grooming (pointed out repeatedly over the season from the first meeting with rachel to Santana's plastic comments. There's even the long shower Santana attributes to getting drug stink off, but I'm thinking sex sweat and perfume) which points towards the high end of the profession and would explain the size of his roll.
Much as I am not a fan of Shue, I have to give Ms. Mayes and Mr. Morrison kudoes for the dance number as the gravity gag is notoriously hard and dangerous and they hadn't close to the amount of time to practice and prep as Mr. Astaire in the famous seen they are referencing. Again, I still hate Mr. Shue and think he's bad for Emma, but I'm a child of the '80's and "In Your Eyes" gave me legitimate chills. (To be clear, I have nothing at all against the talented Mr. Morrison, and I never blame actors for playing repellant characters well).
I just generally find the love songs in Glee boring as they generally aren't doing that much. That wasn't the case in this episode. The Marley/Jake/Ryder thing actually conveyed important information. Oh man was the Moulin Rouge Duet breathtaking!
And now for Miscellanea. I knew what the girls were singing the second I say the outfits. Is it weird that I was disappointed that the jumpsuits were "Top Gun" instead of Ghostbusters? I really like Adam, it turns out, and it's going to suck when his heart gets broken, because he doesn't deserve that from what I'm seen so far. Prices. Everything in Glee has it's price. Ryder's internet dream girl concerns me. (On the Internet no one can tell you are a cat). I am now very much wanting to know who is really collecting sexy pictures and confidences from Ryder.
Feud: Suddenly, I hate Ryder so much. This was right up there Finn dickishly Outing Santana. While Ryder, unlike Finn, actually apologized, but I'm never going to look at him the same way again. It was really nice that Jake actually called Ryder on the douche bag behavior instead of the way glee club always let Finn get away with it back in the day. I'm glad they are finally organizing to protect Unique instead of letting her get bullied. (Didn't I suggest that they should way back early in the season.) It's shitty they waited so long, but at least now they are making an effort. One of my complaints in previous seasons was the way Mercedes kept getting pushed aside and ignored unless they need her to break out in a segment of a group song; Brittany calls Unique Mercedes; Unique was a star performer in her old glee club but here she is pushed aside and ignored most episodes unless they need her to break out in a segment of a group song. Coincidence? I think not.
I'm glad Blaine has a plan at least. Dream Girl "Kate" is even more sketchy. I am now trying to decide which the is worst scenario for her to be from Ryder's perspective, because that will likely be it. Is it weird that I spent the boy band sing off thing fascinated by the mechanics of the rope operation?
I am still processing the hotel room thing. Santana is very Santana, which I mean clever, brutal, inapropriate, and protective, if that makes any sense. It's a shit thing to do to not disclose sex work to a partner you are exposing to associated risks, but I also get the shame that can go with it. After all, I had friends who did street prostitution as a teen and I've known adults who did it as well. There was also that thing I had to do to survive senior year of High School. No money changed hands, but it was definitely sex work. I don't feel shame about it, but I've known people who did. I think Brody deserves a chance to explain himself, even though the not disclosing thing is shitty. Again, what Brody did is dangerous for Rachel and not okay, I just think that Rachel is the one who should get to decide what happens next.
Finn though? We've moved into Bunny Boiler territory there. I kept remembering that person at my second college who gave three of my friends STDs on purpose while cheating in the course of a year claiming that ze thought sharing the STD "makes me feel closer" as an excuse for infecting them. Not surprisingly, they all dumped her and when they later compared notes were pissed. None of them wanted a thing to do with this terrible person again. The next Fall, I was dating one of them. This person went around tell people that that was zir boyfriend and that he was cheating. That person insisted he belonged to zim and would stop cheating with me any second. Ze also said, "He's still my boyfriend, he just doesn't know it yet" to several of my friends. That "my future wife" thing is creepy as fuck and I don't like this thing when people think they own their exes just because they licked them first. Brutal assault? Not okay. Creepy borderline stalker behavior? Not okay and not his business.
Doesn't Rachel have agency here? It seems to me that all three of them (Brody, Santana, and Finn) are making decisions FOR Rachel that Rachel should get to make for herself. Opting in or out for the risks involved with dating Brody should have been her choice. Brody stole that from her. Santana and Finn are trying to decide who she can and can not date by ordering her partner to leave. Isn't that something Rachel should decide for herself? Shouldn't she be telling Brody off for not disclosing if that's how she feels? If she wants him out of her life, shouldn't Rachel get the satisfaction of telling him herself? Santana could have set it up so Rachel was at the hotel instead of Finn. It is one thing to bring the situation in the open; it's another to further steal yet another set of choices from Rachel.
