* Today, the imperial couple discovered birds were building a nest in the gazebo in front of the livingroom window. I have had a wonderful time watching Tavy and Livia watch the birds. Occasionally Tavy would run over and try to enlist me, or at least those peculiar wriggling things on the ends of my paws to let them out to go hunting, even though neither of them have lived outside and are afraid of the big blue room. For some reason the Hu-Mon refused to let them out. "There are birds! Right there! Birds!" Poor kittens, doomed to watch cat TV until it got to dark for birds to be gathering nesting materials, simply because the human values their health more than their impulses.

In other news, the bulbs have been sprouting a couple of weeks now, and I’ve moved things round to best distribute the light.

* Possibly the creepiest thing ever happened. So I’m just innocently reading an article at my desk while petting two cats, the third being in her room with Squirrel and their door closed. I want to emphasize I knew exactly where all the living creatures are in the apartment when this happened. Suddenly, right behind my right ear, I hear a loud exhalation, like a human giving a breathy sigh. I turn. Absolutely no one is there. My hands are literally on both cats. The door to Squirrel’s room is closed. The fish aren't escaping their tanks.

Shudder.
