* The elderly people attacking health product scammers are certainly out in force this month. I have been blocking one or two a day for the last week or so. I know from experience that these three (currently) scams will run out of numbers eventually, after which I will only here from them when they add or change numbers, and odds are that’s a month or two respite. Still, I’d rather have the sleep they are stealing back.

Today I had to drag myself out Again, as it was fix it day. I did not get my shit together fast enough for food and/or lungs, and one can’t have a water bottle in the library, so physically this was not pleasant. I did get moving fast enough to hit the coop to order a case of Korn roast. I WAS hoping they would be cases of eight, expensive enough, but they are cases of twelve, luckily on sale, which with the discount dropped the price by 1.50ish per unit, so very much worth blowing a thirdish of my food money on even if it was rather more than I wanted to spend, as the waiting for grocery outlet to randomly get them at about the same price is very hit and miss, and they are both delicious and five minutes or less of standing prep since one pierces the wrap and tosses them onto a cookie sheet, sets the gravy to defrost and can go rest while they cook. In other words, you get two meals of tasty protein for hardly any work, which given my disabilities is magical for low spoon days. Still, it leaves me super short on other things, especially as after another fruitless fix it session, I did the long grocery loop and discovered they still had no apricot straws, and so I was forced to hit a second grocery store for my back up option at 2-3x the expense. Sigh. And it turns out TJ’s discontinued the cookies that came as close as I am ever likely to find to a commercially made version of my Grandmother (and Gran’s, and her Mother’s most likely)’s cookies, the recipe brought from the old country, which somehow mt mother and I never could get right despite having the recipe to hand. I am, understandably heatbroken. I miss them all so much, my Gran and Grammy and Aunts and my parents and now my Uncle, especially this time of year. It was nice the last two years to have something of that to taste at least. I had been looking forward to them all year, but poof, gone, the other two in the sampler being repackaged as a duo. I have a month’s worth of cheese, bocas, and the mangoes to replace the apricot straws, though I’m still working out dosage, so can’t predict if I have a month’s worth of that last. I replaced honey and spices on yesterday’s mission at the close grocery. I will have delicious vegetarian turkey to go with September’s gravy in a week or so. I have the Zombie Apocalypse pasta collection. I will not starve. Still, I am sad about the cookies.

Fix it was a bust, but this was my fault. I forgot to undo my DvD player and bring with. It still took an hour and a half as the guy who designed the chips in flat screen TVs before he retired, got me confused with the people he spent two and a half hours on last month and so wasted half an hour confidentially researching their problem before wandering over to help the lady who was a ahead of me last month for another half hour during which I unscrewed things and read a book, only to discover that my description of the problem when he started poking in my TV’s innards did not match the problem he was trying to solve at all. Oops. So back again next week and let us hope the behemoth lasts that long. It went out again today while I was getting ready to go and it was five minutes of futzing to get the picture back. Sigh.I only had money for what I Thought was going to be a half tank of gas, ut in the two intervening weeks the price went up so I only had a third. I had to lend Squirrel my car Monday evening as he was out of gas and between that and the long grocery loop I’m down to an 8th. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Poverty is Exhausting. And I still didn’t have money for kibble and tissues, though I DO have TP.

…And Tavy “helpfully” crashed the computer losing half my tabs, because Of Course he did.
