I feel like there's a lot going on there and her choices are way more limited than they look from the outside, which is why I post very little about her and am very particular about what I post. I bet he'd sue for custody too and this way she gets some control over exposure.
While I think 45 should not be allowed to profit from security on his properties, and thus all rental costs should be free for secret service when he's on his properties, I didn't begrudge the cost of the actual extra details, if that makes sense.
In her place I'd have wanted to stay and let Barron have the rest of the school year there too. I her place I'd be quietly trying to limit damage while trying to wait it out. So I don't know that's what she's doing for herself and for her son, but I suspect so and act accordingly.
